Leisurely

27 people turned up for the Whiston / Ulley walk on a very mild morning. Coffee was taken at the church in Ulley which was festooned with poppy's ready for 11.11. Although the mileage was longer than expected, I noticed lots of smiling faces and heard a lot of laughter along the way. So All's Well That Ends Well! Refreshment was taken outside at The Sitwell Arms.

24 ramblers and one dog set off down Lindrick Dale. We were soon joined by another rambler and her dog, who walked in from Shireoaks, bringing our total to 25. The route took us across one of Lindrick Golf Course’s fairways, over the River Ryton and up a short climb through woodland emerging on a small hilltop with views over Shireoaks and Worksop. From there, we dropped down via Brancliffe Grange to the Chesterfield Canal and followed it into the village. A loop around Shireoaks included a pause at the remains of Shireoaks Hall and a coffee break on Tub Row.

35 of us set off from the Alma at Mosborough, not quite the record breaking numbers we had in March but only a couple less! We left the pub and took the first left to head down into the fields towards ridgeway. We had a coffee stop at the picnic area at ford bottom before carrying on our walk through eckington woods. Passing the seldom seen house before our gentle ascent up Gas House (mountain) 'lung buster' Lane! Back to the Alma in good time for drinks, fish and chips and cake! I worried we've done this walk a few times already but its always thoroughly enjoyed!

29 walkers and a dog set off from Marina Drive Shireoaks and after a brief pause for a boot malfunction, we entered Rhodesia where there was a blacksmith's forge named after the walk leader. Elevenses were taken on a raised grass bank enabling older members to get up without rolling over. The walk returned via Shireoaks Hall and refreshments  were provided by the excellent Leeds Arms in South Anston. Welcome to newcomers John, Jacquie and Michael. Also to Gwyneth on her return. A large number met for the walk, it was 6 miles (approx). The weather stayed fine, a little wet underfoot but nothing to complain about, we need the rain!! We retired to The Sitwell Arms for a post walk drink. Many thanks for all who turned up and especially to Karen for back marking.

25 of us set off on a bright morning from the car park at the Dukeries Garden Centre, Welbeck. We crossed the A60 and walked through Holbeck, along an avenue of lime trees, passing a church. Walking along the edge of fields and woodland we entered fields with cattle in and enjoyed a good view of Creswell below. Passing over a tricky stile (the one and only) we dropped down into Creswell Crags passing the caves on one side.

There were 31 walkers for today's ramble starting and finishing at The Parish Oven in Thorpe Salvin. It was a cool start under grey skies, but soon warmed up as we made our way out of the village and down the fields and woods to the Chesterfield Canal. Along the canal before making our way to Woodsetts, crossing Lindrick Golf Course and the busy A57. Refreshments were taken by the side of the fairway before, again, crossing under A57 and making our way was back across the golf course and to the canal. Crossing the canal, through Spring Woods and back to the village.

22 of us set off from Morehall reservoir, thankfully it wasn’t as hot as yesterday and majority of walk was under trees and quite pleasant and plenty of stops for drinks. Most went to nearby Blueball pub where the food looked really good. I was pleased I managed ok and wasn’t in pain.

Under perfect walking conditions, 34 intrepid members and 4 dogs embarked upon the 5.5 mile Aston Ulley walk. Refreshments subsequently were taken at the Robin Hood pub. Perfect day and a nice bunch of people. Perfect! Thanks to Dave and John for middle and back marking.
