Leisurely

Twenty very hot members gathered in Blyth and walked to the first water stop at Hodsocks taken in the shade of a large tree. We then travelled to Carlton in Lindrick duck pond where we had a meal break surrounded by friendly ducks including some very tame chicks that came within arms length. The figure of eight look too us back to Hodsocks for another water break. The last part of the walk took us across the river which was very clear and tempting and then continued back to Blyth where refreshments were taken in the beer garden at The Angel.

31 walkers met at all saints church Laughton, on a lovely summers morning, including three dogs and one new lady member. We set off down the lane to the picturesque village of Brookhouse, taking the path that lead us to Slade Hooton down the barley field, through the woods that led us to the ruins of Roche Abbey. Coffee was taken in the garden of the old gate house, onwards and upwards back through the woods to Laughton where I discovered the smallest dog hiding in one of the members rucksack 'cute'. Drinks were taken at the Rising Deer Brampton.

25 plus 3 dogs set left Whiston towards Wickersley on a fine morning (in spite of a glum weather forecast) Fields of buttercups, past the fishing ponds, horses and fields of barley, Oates or whatever!! Into Wickersley Wood. Skirting the golf course and back into Whiston. Refreshments in the Sitwell Arms garden. Thanks to Annie for back marking. 

On a beautiful, sunny day 29 of the walking group and 2 dogs set out from the road adjacent to Treeton cricket club. It was very much a contrast of the old and new, particularly in the early part of the walk where Orgreave and the Waverley area of development are placed almost side by side with the Advanced Manufacturing site in the background. Climbing a short hill we had a fine view of the expanse of water with Treeton and its church in the background. It was an ideal spot for a photoshoot which was duly taken.

On a lovely sunny morning 30 of us set of past Wentworth Garden Centre through fields and over stiles {too many, sorry about that} up a fairly steep field walk to Scholes Village Cricket Ground, where we had a break with views over Wentworth. We then had a short walk through  Scholes Wood another steep hill and then down to Greasbrough Dam and Wentworth House  past Wentworth Cricket Ground and back to cars. We then a a very needed cold drink in The Rockingham Arms garden thanks to Roy and Donna for back marking and Dave and Julie for advice during the walk.

On a beautiful, sunny day 20 members and 4 dogs set out from the Cavalier car park in Ravenfield walking along Braithwell Road. We turned left down a lane which runs close to the M18 passing Conisbrough Grange farm on the right. The footpath then took us towards Birk Lodge and on the field to our left we were greeted by 3 friendly horses who also were also enjoying the Spring sunshine. Conditions underfoot were so much better than those we have experienced in recent days. We then passed Firsby Reservoir where our morning break was taken.

From Anston parish hall carpark 26 of us set off in the sunshine, climbing the only hill on today's walk upto Hodgkin's field, where we walked across to Rackford road making our way right to Rackford farm. Crossing the stone stile up past several horse fields, all of the horses appropriately togged out in their winter coats. From the following fields we could see right across towards Woodsetts and beyond. It was quite breezy and unfortunately the weather changed to become quite wet and windy.

Absolutely wonderful day for a walk! Slight change of walk to what was planned due to the mud but what a glorious sunny day we've had! We headed off for our 5 mile walk from the Alma at Mosborough, over the fields towards Ridgeway and Ford bottom. A quick pit stop at Ford wheel damn before making out way through Eckington woods where nobody took up the chance of a Tarzan swing. Onwards to the seldom seen engine house then up the 'lung opener slope' (hill) that luckily lead us straight into the pub! Refreshments, fish and chips and cake all round!

25 members set off from Winthrop gardens car park on a fresh sunshiny day. We would encounter 4 major road crossing which we would navigated without any problems. Started through wooded land and then onward through Wickersley encountering a few muddy moments and onto Sitwell golf club road where we took a drink break. We then started off downhill to Whiston. Arrived at Whiston. crossing the main road Sun yes Sun was getting warmer and some removal of walking gear was required. Started through a muddy field before starting along the lane to Pinchmill. Another drink stop was taken.

23 humans and 3 dogs set off from Renishaw, briefly following the Trans Pennine Trail before turning off the trail and heading through fields and over the old golf course towards Eckington. From Eckington, we carried on along Pipworth Lane until we reached the River Rother where we stopped for a coffee break and enjoyed the river views. After a cuppa, we headed towards Killamarsh, skirting its edge before joining the Cuckoo Way. This final stretch gave us some interesting views of what is left of the abandoned Chesterfield Canal. We finished back at the car park after 5.2 miles.
