Thanks to all 26 who all turned up for one of my favourite short walks. It was overcast but warm with a slight breeze and the chance of a shower. Starting from Cote Green car park we passed through Thurgoland tunnel on the TPT then dropped down to the river Don. Then on past the 'fish pass' and the old mill near the wier where we had our first coffee/tea break. After crossing the river we made our way up through the woods to the delightful Ivy Millenium Green Communal Garden in Green Moor village.

Then to Wath Golf Club were we had our first break. through various fields towards Hoober were we had our second break. Then on to Upper Haugh then one more field back into the roman banks and into Rosehill park with thanks for Donna for back marking with refreshment taken in the Marquis.   

17 walkers and 1 dog set of from Hellaby and headed out over the fields towards Hooton Levitt. We then tackled the overgrown section which actually wasn't too bad and I only got nettled twice. At the halfway point we stopped for refreshments where we had a encounter with a rival gang (Doncaster  ramblers) but we had already taken the best spots. We then continued around old Thurcroft pit then back into Carr before returning to Hellaby. A well deserved drink after 6.5 miles was then taken at Sir Jacks. A thoroughly enjoyably walk enjoyed by all and many thanks to everyone who attended.

On a cloudy morning 26 members set out via Worsbrough reservoir and quickly noticed four very  small Signets with back beaks being shepherded by a swan, sadly one Signet slid down a steep weir to the river followed by the male swan who appeared to be rescue it. The walk round the rest of the reservoir was not so dramatic but provided plenty of views of small Goslings and Ducklings and their parents. The paths continued towards Rockley Old Hall accross the M1 and onward to Broom Royd Wood and past Rockley Dyke where we had snack time. Then up  Miller Hill to Worsbrough village.

Thursday's walk was part of the Wickersley walking festival and we were joined by Ann and Liz to take numbers up to 28 in total. It was a chilly, but dry start as we left Winthrop, heading towards Morthen. Through the village we headed along the road to a footpath on our left towards Penny Hill wind farm. We followed footpaths through two overgrown fields to arrive at our refreshment stop. Onwards, through the wind farm, following road and paths back to Winthrop Gardens for refreshments (and the sun came out). No incidents and everybody got back safely.

On a cool may morning 21of us set off from Ford Bottom car park we went along the stream and passed three fishing ponds then we entered Eckington woods were there was a lot beautiful blue bells and garlic plants we carried on through the woods onto gas house lane we did a detour and went to the cenotaph in Eckington for the memorial of men and women of the armed forces who lost there lives in the first and Second World War The last post was played and all felt very moving Then we went through the church yard it was decorated with poppies as school children had done all these with there teac

Starting our walk today from the Butchers Arms carpark in Woodsetts were 30 walkers including 4 new walkers, Geoff, Hazel, Mary and Linda. Also 5 really well behaved dogs. From the pub we crossed over the road to walk past the church and up 'sausage hill' After our short sharp climb we descended down past some really lovely houses, then along the edge of Lindrick golf course passing the rockets along the way.

Thanks to the 17 who braved the wild winter weather on the last Sunday walk of the year and thanks to Val for back marking. The walk began along the sheltered rather lovely Little Don Valley where we spotted a heron on flight. Climbing up onto the moors the wind buffeted us but we soon found shelter in a walled enclosure for our coffee and snack break.  A further climb up to the top of the moors the full strength of the wind hit, but undeterred the group made it to the top of Cabin Hill  and then yomped across the last stretch of moorland to the Woodhead Road.

Fifteen walkers set off from Topley Pike in dry but dull weather, we crossed Chelmorton Low which was muddy and lumpy, we touched on the edge of Chelmorton and proceeded towards Fivewells farm stopping at the highest point at 11:00am to honour Remembrance Day. After a brief stop near the farm for refreshments we crossed Taddington Moor in low cloud, this cleared as we went down to Taddington where we had lunch in the church grounds admiring their Remembrance Day decorations. Priestcliffe was the next target via Rock Lodge Farm then on to Blackwell and the finish.

On a clear and crisp morning 17 hardy souls embarked on a walk in the rolling countryside of West Yorkshire. The sun was out, the wind was light, what more could be asked. After passing the outskirts of the YSP, cut across open countryside, passing an amazing area where Yorkshire Water has created a flood prevention area. The walk continued uphill and down dales along clearly defined paths, always having Emley Moor mast in view. Elevenses were taken above Bank Wood. After this we walked through more fields until we came across a stunning water tower conversion.
