Five Pits Trail to Hardwick Ponds

Andrew Wright - I’ve done the recce for Thursday’s walk. It’s a little over 6 miles with gentle ups and downs throughout. A few things to note: Parking is free at the Five Pits Trail car park on Timber Lane, near Pilsley. S45 8AL. SK 427 642. W3W: ///correct.spreads.brew. The car park is small but not usually busy. We will likely need to block each other in, and if you can car share, please do. I have room for 3 walkers from the Whiston/Moorgate/Broom area – let me know if you’d like a lift. There is a stretch of footpath overgrown with nettles, thistles and brambles. It’s passable, but I wouldn’t recommend shorts (as I discovered today). There are also a few stiles, one of which is a bit rickety, so please take care. We also pass through a couple of fields with cows. They were very docile, but please be aware and keep dogs on leads.
