Fairholmes, Alport Castles circular

Phil Bates The A57 Manchester Road at Rivelin Dams which has been closed for 6 weeks has now re-opened for single file traffic controlled by traffic lights. I have taken this walk over from Brenda and have slightly altered it to omit the 2.5 mile road walking at the start in favour of a more direct route via Lockerbrook Coppice and Lockerbrook Outdoor Centre to Alport Castles. The parking charge at Fairholmes is £7. The walk will be 9.5 miles long. Poles will be useful for a partly rocky downhill section to Alport Farm. Dogs to be kept on a short lead please as there are ground nesting birds.
