Todays walk in detail

Today's walk started at Linacre Reservoirs, near Cutthorpe. A group of seven set off past the middle and upper reservoirs and headed up the valley following Linacre Brook. After a steady climb we levelled out and followed the paths along the higher ground, taking in fine views over Chesterfield and beyond. Following a coffee stop we continued through Wigley and then Wadshelf before beginning our gradual descent. We took lunch on the way down towards the outskirts of Holymoorside and Ashgate, then returned to the reservoirs, passing the lower reservoir and crossing the dam at the middle reservoir back to the car park. Refreshment was taken at The Three Merry Lads in Cutthorpe. Thanks to everyone who came, and a warm welcome to Andy for his first walk with the group. Apologies that two of the three reservoirs were significantly depleted due to Severn Trent's engineering works on the dams. Hopefully the dry beds proved as interesting as the waterside views originally intended.
